In 2017 I interned with Eastern Music Festival as a marketing and communications associate. My work at EMF would have been profound on its own, but the tandem participation with the Campus Greensboro Fellows Program made the summer exceptionally useful, and also fun! I made friends not only with students from all different institutions, but also with the people that make up the living and working heart of Greensboro.

It’s for this reason the name “Campus Greensboro” is so appropriate: The Fellows Program expands the smaller network students have with their peers and professors at their respective institutions to include both Greensboro’s professional and collegiate world, all while fostering a close-knit feeling of community that rarely grows beyond the college bubble. I believe encouraging relationships between young professionals, students and longer-established citizens of the city is one of the strongest ways to foster growth of everyone involved and for the city itself.

I’m excited to be helping direct the Fellows Program this year, as I am personally familiar with how effectively the Fellows Program creates meaningful experience for its students. Now on the flip side of the program, I have the opportunity to help create this experience for others. The program has only grown since my year and I feel so lucky to be helping innovate it and put together another splendid year for the 2019 Fellows!
