  • Archival Research Intern - Greensboro Chamber of Commerce

This role will entail researching materials housed in UNCG’s Special Collections and University Archives for the purpose of creating a complete timeline of the Chamber’s most notable milestone and historical moments, as well as creating an organized master document. Responsibilities Working under the supervision of the Communications and Marketing Manager with support from UNCG’s Special Collections and University Archives, this intern will be solely responsible for researching through the history of the Chamber of Commerce and providing a timeline that can be utilized for 150th Anniversary planning and marketing collateral. Topics will include: Chamber history through the eras (World War I, World War II, Great Depression, rise of textiles, decline of textiles, etc) Economic development like major announcements, expansion of industry, big wins, and major partnerships Past presidents and board chairs Big picture things like major wins, policy announcements, big community projects, etc. and quotes Old mission statements and taglines Bold positions, big debates, controversial moments Old photos, logos, branding, ads, letters, newspaper clippings, and other visuals. Successful applicants should be students with demonstrated skills in historical research and project organization and can work with little supervision. This role is ideal for students who have an interest in learning more about the history of Greensboro and connecting with its business community. This opportunity is available beginning mid-April or earlier depending on the availability of the chosen candidate. Internship is for 20-25 hours a week, with a schedule that will align with the operational hours of UNCG’s Special Collections and University Archives facility; Monday-Friday, 9 am to 4 pm.

SUMMARY The GCPC Intern provides cross-functional support to multiple areas of the organization, offering broad exposure to nonprofit operations, early childhood programs, and community-based work. This role is designed for someone who is eager to learn, adaptable, and interested in gaining hands-on experience across communications and outreach, event planning, data collection and entry, NC Pre-K support, and general administrative functions.
