LimeBikes on the Downtown Greenway

During the Night on the Downtown event on June 28, one group of Fellows rode LimeBikes from Union Square Campus along the Downtown Greenway, stopping at Revolution Burger for dinner, and ending back at Union Square.

Matt Phillips, the Operations Manager for LimeBike, brought the bikes to Union Square Campus and spent the evening with Fellows. Matt shared, “Thank you for looping us in with the Fellows Program yesterday! It was a wonderful opportunity to not only show these students some of the nationally recognized things Greensboro has to offer, but also achieve my goal of spreading the love of cycling to those who may otherwise not consider it as a transportation or recreation option!”

The Fellows enjoyed the event and shared the following insight about the event/riding the LimeBikes on the Downtown Greenway:

  • The bikes were fun to use on the Downtown Greenway, and parking them was convenient with their built-in locking system! –Chad Watson, NCA&T student, interning with Launch Greensboro
  • The LimeBikes were really fun and easy to get around on. I think it is a great option for people to enjoy the outdoors and the Greenway! –William Woody, Greensboro College student, interning with Engineered Steel Products
  • LimeBikes fixed any problems with bike share systems I have used in the past. They’re incredibly convenient with GPS locating and very affordable at $0.50/half hour (for UNCG students). –Jacob Warren, UNCG student, interning with Eastern Music Festival
  • I haven’t ridden a bike in years so I was pretty nervous about this event, but after getting on the LimeBike, I didn’t want to get off! The bike handled smoothly on both the paved and unpaved parts of the Downtown Greenway, which came as a surprise since you wouldn’t expect such a brightly colored bike to be so sturdy. –Victor Vigoya, GTCC student, interning with Global Brands Group
