2017 Get Outdoors at Lake Brandt

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department sponsored an event for the 2017 Opportunity Greensboro Fellows cohort to get outdoors at Lake Brandt. For the majority of Fellows, it was their first time at Lake Brandt, and Fellows went hiking, fishing, kayaking (solo & tandem), canoeing, and stand up paddle boarding (SUP). We even celebrated a birthday for one of the Fellows out at the lake and all the Fellows received their program t-shirt, which you can purchase locally from Hudson’s Hill.

Staff from Parks & Recreation were onsite to welcome the group and get the Fellows situated with their selected activity for the evening. The Fellows really enjoyed spending an evening at Lake Brandt and one of the Fellows exclaimed, “I am an outdoors person now, Beth! I didn’t used to be, but now I am.” Following the event, the Program Director heard from Fellows’ supervisors about the fun they had at Lake Brandt.
