For the second Professional Development installment this summer, the Fellows attended a workshop on LinkedIn and Personal Branding at Union Square Campus. This series is made possible due to our Professional Development Series event sponsor, Stearns Financial Group – thanks, SFG!
The Fellows welcomed guest presenter, Mary Lesa Pegg, Graduate Recruitment Specialist for the Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNCG, and enjoyed learning from Mary Lesa about how she utilizes LinkedIn as a young professional. The workshop focused on five actionable steps for the Fellows to implement on their individual profiles. Thinking that your LinkedIn profile needs a refresh? Check out the five steps below:
- Update your profile
- Join groups
- Follow influencers and industries
- Find alumni
- Engage
The Fellows enjoyed learning about how to use LinkedIn effectively for their personal brand and career goals. After the panel, Fellows began updating their individual LinkedIn profiles with professional photographs (taken at the Welcome Reception at VF Corporation), connecting with other Fellows, peers, and internship colleagues, and liking/sharing posts.
It is extremely rewarding to watch the Fellows grow professionally throughout the 10-week program and utilize the skills they are learning and improving throughout the summer. If you are reading this and haven’t been actively engaged with your LinkedIn profile, now is the time to make profile updates and engage!
A huge thank you to Mary Lesa for taking time to present to the 2017 Opportunity Greensboro Fellows!
Thank you again to Stearns Financial Group for sponsoring this series and to our guest presenter, Mary Lesa Pegg.
