On Friday, March 31, over 150 students from Greensboro’s 7 Colleges and Universities came downtown to interview for internships as part of the 2017 Opportunity Greensboro Fellows Program. Interview Day was held at the Greensboro Public Library (Central Branch), which was a great space for accommodating close to 200 interviews.
Prior to Interview Day, all applicants had the opportunity to attend a pre-interview workshop hosted by the Fellows Program Director at Action Greensboro. In the pre-interview workshop, candidates learned about the importance of company research, self preparation, and learning as much as possible about the interview process in order to have an effective interview. On March 31, students were dressed professionally and ready to interview with the company (or companies) who extended the interview offer(s).
In total, 18 Companies participated in Interview Day, including:
Aerotek, Biscuitville, Boulton Creative, Center for Board Excellence, Chamber of Commerce, City of Greensboro, Cone Health, Downtown Greensboro Inc., Engineered Steel Products, Global Brands Group, Greensboro Downtown Parks, Inc., PACE, Quaintance-Weaver, Replacements, Ltd., Tigermoth Creative, Triad Stage, United Way of Greater Greensboro, and Xtern Software.
Many employers who attended this year’s Interview Day previously participated in the inaugural interview at Co//ab in April 2016. Similar to last year, employers commented on the high quality of the students they interviewed, as well as their excitement to be involved in year two of the Opportunity Greensboro Fellows Program.
Spectrum News came to Interview Day to conduct interviews with Beth Mannella, Fellows Program Director, and one of the interview candidates. The segment aired at 5 pm on Friday, March 31. Watch the piece here!
Companies offering internships (through the Fellows Program) will extend offers by Monday, April 10 – we look forward to announcing the 2017 Fellows Program cohort in the weeks to come!
