2017 Fellow: Julia Brown

College/University: Elon University School of Law

Internship site: City of Greensboro, City Manager’s Office

Julia’s mentor: Jim Melvin, president and CEO of the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation of Greater Greensboro; former Mayor of Greensboro

Julia’s experience: As an Opportunity Greensboro Fellow, I have learned so much about what Greensboro, NC has to offer and have made numerous connections with influential individuals in the city. The Fellows Program is more than an opportunity for a paid internship. It is an opportunity to make new friends, see the many attractions of Greensboro, and learn methods to enhance professionalism through workshops and one-on-one time with an individualized mentor.

My internship is with the City of Greensboro in the City Manager’s Office. In this position, I assist the City Managers and other City departments in a variety of endeavors. My internship is very interesting and engaging as I get to see the government of the City of Greensboro in action in daily tasks and projects. Beyond my internship, I will graduate from Elon University School of Law in December of 2018 and hope to find a job here in Greensboro!
