Featured Fellow: Kincaid Albers

Please meet today’s Featured Fellow, Kincaid Albers!

Kincaid Albers is interning at Global Brands Group (GBG) as one of the inventory/planning/logistics interns. Originally from Harrisburg, NC, Kincaid is studying Business Administration and Entrepreneurship at UNCG, and he will graduate May 2017. In his free time, Kincaid enjoys running/working out, water sports, reading, and traveling.

For the past eight weeks I have been a logistics intern at Global Brands Group. The experience I gained and the relationships I built in these past two months have been beyond anything I could have ever expected. Coming into the internship, I knew the basics of logistics (thanks to my college classes), but I never knew the importance of the logistics sectors and how they truly functioned within businesses. As an intern, it is my responsibility to manage databases containing order entry, ensuring that all requested materials/parts are delivered in a timely and effective manner. It is also my responsibility to assist the local logistics/operations management team in the day-to-day supervision of warehouse and delivery staff. In addition to advancing my understanding of logistics, I believe that attending the Leonard Kaplan Leadership Institute at the Center for Creative Leadership really set the positive tempo for this experience. Every day of my internship, I wake up excited to go into work, see my team, and ultimately feel like I have a strong sense of purpose. Even though I am an intern, my team took me in like I had been working there forever and as if I have always been a part of the GBG family. In all, there are many things I will take away from this internship, but the greatest thing is the importance of building relationships with my team, as well as with the customers and warehouses I have been blessed to work alongside.

Thank you to all of those who devoted their time to the inaugural Fellows cohort and the Opportunity Greensboro Summer Fellows Program as a whole. Without this program, I most likely would have never come across such a wonderful internship with Global Brands Group and would not have had the opportunity to develop relationships with people I met over the past eight weeks.
