Today’s Featured Fellow is one of the cohort’s Guilford College students, Daniel Woodruff!
Daniel Woodruff will graduate from Guilford College in December 2016 with a major in Accounting and minor in Sports Administration. Daniel is interning at Global Brands Group (GBG) in the finance/tax division this summer. Due to Daniel’s dream job of becoming a Sports Accountant, the Fellows Mentorship Program paired Daniel with a local Greensboro Accountant!

I am really blessed and thankful for the opportunity that GBG has given me to expand my knowledge and gain so much experience. From the first day I arrived to the Tax Accounting department, I learned that there is always something that needs to be completed no matter how big or small it is because everything matters when it comes to working with tax and finding ways to save money for the company. I’ve done different projects such as tax conciliations, creating excel sheets to present sales by state of each company, and several types of tax returns for the company. There are two important things that I will take from this internship: 1) Always pay attention to detail throughout the work that one is working on, and 2) Build relationships with the people that work within the company because you never know if you might need contact them for something in the future.
