Today’s Featured Fellow is Gabrielle Bijou!
Gabrielle Bijou is a rising senior at Elon Univ
ersity studying accounting with a minor in Asian studies. Originally from Middletown, NJ, Gabrielle will intern at United Guaranty Corporation (UGC) this summer in the accounting department. In her free time, Gabrielle enjoys golfing and traveling. Gabrielle’s mentor in the Fellows Mentorship Program is an avid golfer, so we hope they will tee off together throughout the Fellows Program!
Gabrielle shares about her first few weeks at UGC: I’ve been interning at United Guaranty for almost four weeks now and loving it! I’ve been assisting three different departments within accounting: accounting operations and banking, fixed assets and expenses, as well as financial systems. This departmental variation has allowed me to experience the accounting process from start to finish. As we enter July, I will be assisting the financial reporting team. I really appreciate that I’m given important tasks and not just busy work. For example, I run a weekly inter-company report that allows treasury to fund all the companies correctly. I’m excited to take everything I’m learning in the ‘real world’ back to class with me in the fall. This experience has taught me so much more than I expected and it’s only been one month. I can’t wait see what the rest of the summer will bring!
