Today’s Featured Fellow is one of our Bennett Alumna, Janae Peats!
Janae Peats is from East Palo Alto, CA, and came to North Carolina to attend Bennett College. As a recent May graduate with an English degree, Janae will be the Diversity and Inclusion intern at VF Corporation this summer. Janae’s dream job is to be a social entrepreneur and elected official. In her spare time, Janae enjoys hiking, attending community events, networking, and community service.
Read about Janae’s internship experience at VF Corporation: The fellowship program is like none other that I have ever experienced. Since beginning the program in June, I have been provided exceptional leadership training, developed and executed projects on a global scale at a Fortune 250 company, met and established relationships with VF Corporation’s executive leaders, and learned so much about the city of Greensboro. Professional development was expected, however the personal development was completely unexpected. Since the program, many tragedies have happened that have claimed the lives of so many in the United States and abroad. My colleagues that I met in the fellows program have been there for me through difficult times and encouraged me to keep going and progressing. My favorite part about my experience has been my direct supervisor at VF Corporation. Sheila Carmichael has been an outstanding supervisor and mentor who advocates for me in the strongest way. My experiences at VF Corporation have truly been transformational. I feel more prepared to approach the next phase in my life.
